MATCHA CHRISTMAS TREE COOKIES

A mini Christmas tree on your plate!!  The Matcha cookies is perfect color to make Christmas Trees for your next holiday party.  And the vanilla buttercream makes it even more delicious.  Just 1 day left in 12 DAYS OF CHRISTMAS COOKIES!  Matcha Christmas Tree Cookies is recipe number 11.

When I was looking for ideas for the 12 DAYS OF CHRISTMAS COOKIES, I look for holidays colors that would be great to fill your holiday table.  So I look for the usual holiday colors, like red and green, and how fitting to use Matcha in the ingredients!

Christmas tree are all around!!  During Christmas, you’ll see that there are so many trees everywhere you look.  Real tree, fake tree, green tree, white tree, tree made out lights, tree made out of buttons, tree made out of bow, the list goes on and on!!!  My sister actually has a Christmas tree album that she makes every year on her facebook page.  Friends sends her the pictures of Christmas tree that they see and she posts them on her page.  It’s amazing to see all the Christmas tree creations all around the world!!

Now for 12 DAYS OF CHRISTMAS COOKIES, let’s make our own Christmas tree creation.  This time it’s in the shape of….  COOKIES!!!  In a small bowl, mix together the flour and salt.

Mix together the butter and sugar until it becomes nice and smooth.

Add the beautiful green matcha powder to the butter mixture.

To make sure that everything is evenly mix, don’t forget to scrape the sides of the bowl.

While the machine is on low speed, gradually add the flour to the butter mixture.

It won’t come together with the machine and it will look crumbly.  No worries, you can put it into a ball and roll it out.

Put a little bit of the dough into a ball and put it in between 2 parchment paper.   Roll out the dough into 1/3 inch thickness.

Cut out the cookies in three different sizes.  You can use the circle or you can use the star cookie cutter, like the one I use here.

After baking them for about 12 minutes, you can start stacking them up.

Start with the biggest star and pipe some buttercream on top.

Put the medium one on top and pipe again.

Put the smallest one on top and pipe to make the top.

O Christmas tree, O Christmas tree, how lovely are thy branches ..  Or in this case, thy buttercream!!  The Matcha Christmas Tree Cookies is ready  for family and friends to enjoy!!

Happy Baking!!
