CHOCOLATE NEST CAKE

It’s too cute for words!!  Here’s the cake for the 4th day of 12 DAYS OF CHRISTMAS CAKE, Chocolate Nest Cake!!!

I have to say, this is one of my favorite cake to make!!  It’s really cute and the chocolate eggs makes it even cuter!!!  And the recipe is really easy to it’s a win win!!

On the 4th day of Christmas, my true love gave to me, 4 Calling birds!  Do you ever wonder what Calling Birds are?  Most of the images that I see is they are either red or black.  Now I’m not an ornithologist, but I love this blue bird that I saw at Michael’s.  So I thought why not use it for the picture.

This cake recipe is really easy and only needs 1 pan to wash.  One. Uno. Un. Satu. That’s in Indonesian. ?. So with this recipe, you put everything in the pan.  No stand mixer is necessary!  And why is this great news?  When you are baker, you wash lots and lots and lots of pans.  So whenever a recipe only needs one pan, you are one happy baker! ?. Let’s make this cake!!

Combine the flour, cocoa powder, sugar, baking soda and salt in the greased baking pan.

Then make 3 wells like so.

Add the vanilla, oil and vinegar into the wells.

Add water into the pan, and whisk together.

To make this cake, I doubled the recipe to give it some height.  Once the cakes are baked and cooled, put a layer of frosting in between and frost the outside of the cake.  Don’t forget to make a well!!

Using a piping bag, pipe small lines all around the cake.

After lots and lots and lots of piping, here’s the nest!!

And for cuteness effect, put some chocolate eggs in the nest.

It’s too cute!!!  I love it!!!   Doesn’t it look like a bird’s nest??   Cute and delicious!!

Happy baking!!!
