BUTTERCREAM PAINTED SPRING CAKE

Spring is here!!  Beautiful Buttercream Painted Spring Cake is also here to make EASTER month beautiful and delicious!!  What’s your favorite spring flowers??  ???

After the long rainy winter that we’ve been having in Dallas, I’m just soooo ready for beautiful spring flowers!!  By the way, do you do annual or perennials in your garden?   Would you like to know what I have?  Well, I give you 3 hints.  It lasts for many years, do not need watering and it can withstand all kinds of weather.  If you guessed plastic plants, you are ?correct!!! ?????   Oh don’t get me wrong..   I enjoy flowers and plants and one of my favorite places to visit is the Dallas Arboretum and Botanical Garden.  But I have black thumb!!  Can’t grow anything!!

So what does a “black thumb” person do to celebrate Spring?  Make a cake with flowers on it!!! ! The flower for this cake is the Pink Gerbera daisy.  It just screams Spring!!

For Easter month, all the recipe will use this Chocolate Cake recipe.  Prepare the cake and the color frostings that you want to make.   Make sure that the cake is cold and the buttercream is set so that when you push the buttercream on to the surface of the cake, it won’t make an indentation.

Use the back of the angled spatula to make the petals of the flower.  You can go around the cake and make different sizes of flower.

Using piping tip #13, pipe in the yellow anthers in the middle of the flower petals.

Then using a small pallet knife, add in the leaves on the side of the flower.

A beautiful spring Cake!!   I think this cake can be made for Easter, Bridal Shower, Graduation cake, Mother’s Day, or just any occasion that needs a pretty cake!!   Or you can use this as a centerpiece of your dessert table!  Enjoy!!

Happy Baking!!
